Soundtracks are music that plays during events in the Cars series. Mechanics involving them have steadily changed, although it can easily be considered to have gotten worse as the series progressed.

Cars: The Video Game Edit

On the main menu, an option called "Jukebox" appears, it allows players to select songs from a list that will appear in each of Exploration mode, (most) road races, and Piston Cup races. Other events have a single predetermined soundtrack that cannot be chosen or changed.

Cars: Mater-National Championship Edit

Each event type has a predetermined list of songs that cannot be changed. Exploration mode now has no music, and music will start to play if Lightning approaches an event dot.

Cars: Race-O-Rama Edit

Each event has a predetermined list of songs (which no longer have names) that cannot be changed mid-race.

Cars 2: The Video Game Edit

Each race has it's own single soundtrack.

Licensed Music Edit

In the first two games, various songs that are copyrighted to owners other than Disney/Pixar can be heard, songs with permission gained for use in the 2006 film (Life is a Highway, Route 66 (Instrumental)) were also later used in Cars: Mater-National Championship. These include:

Cars: The Video Game Edit

  • All American Rejects - Night Drive
  • Autopilot Off - What I Want
  • Edgar Winter Group - Free Ride
  • The Explosion - Here I Am (Instrumental)
  • Natural Born Hippies - Best Looking Guy in Town
  • Los Lobos - C'mon, Let's Go
  • Lynryd Skynryd - White Knuckle Ride
  • Stray Cats - Rock This Town

Cars: Mater-National Championship Edit

  • The Romantics - What I Like About You
  • Gary Philips & John Loeffler - Americans
  • Bruno Steele - 5 Star Day
  • APN Music - I Can't Drive 55 (Instrumental)
  • Apollo 440 - Stop the Rock

Sountrack Mods Edit

As the PC versions of Cars: The Video Game and Cars: Mater-National Championship are moddable, one can easily change the game's song lists in the "music.pb" and "common.txt" files. And in Mater-National, they can easily add their own music.

Beautiful Day

U2 - Beautiful Day, a song that should not normally be in the game.

Trivia Edit

  • Cars: The Video Game is the only game to display the artist along with the title, and says that all non-licensed music was made by a composer named Bruno Coon.
  • The PC Version of Cars: Mater-National Championship is the only game where once a soundtrack ends, it starts that same soundtrack over rather than playing a different one.
